The Rockbridge Regional Fair and Expo returns to the Virginia Horse Center September 10 through 12, 2026, with gates opening at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alongside the livestock shows and midway rides, the fair gives local makers and performers three days of stage time and wall space.

This year's theme, "Stars and Stripes Over Carnival Lights," marks America's 250th anniversary while honoring the agricultural traditions and community spirit that have made county fairs a part of rural Virginia life for generations.

Quilts in the Country

The fair's quilt show runs throughout the event, bringing together the work of quilters from across the region. It's one of the best chances all year to see local fiber art in one room and to talk with the people who made it.

Live music and performance

Open mic night puts local musicians on stage, and an 80s themed evening fills another night with music. Danny and Lindsay Grant bring the Cowboy and Cowgirl Circus for performances across the weekend. A mechanical bull riding competition rounds out the entertainment lineup.

Traditional skills and handmade work

The expo side of the fair covers art, food preservation, and traditional skills, with interactive exhibits you can try rather than just walk past. Saturday morning adds a collaborative farmers market where local artisans sell alongside growers, plus the FFA toy show.

Admission

Free. Midway armbands are $25 for all ages. A few individual events may be ticketed.
