Vendor Guidelines
Artapalooza is an event dedicated to supporting and promoting our local artisans and their unique skills and creativity. In this spirit, we require that all retail vendors only sell items that are fundamentally of their own making or art and craft supplies. Informational and nonprofit booths are also welcome.
We feel strongly that this event should be advantageous to individual artists and small art-related businesses as a celebration of all they contribute to our communities. We recognize that some larger businesses and national chains may wish to sell at this event, however, we choose to protect the livelihood of our artists by limiting mass-produced competition which may put their sales at a disadvantage. We hope that these entities will understand our reasoning and be content selling their products at other more appropriate venues.
One exception to this rule is that we welcome art supply vendors! Artists love paints and pencils and yarn and fabric and clay and tools and we have no problem sharing our event with our suppliers. In fact, we beg you to come.
While we expect there will be some gray area in deciding what is allowed or not, we hope that everyone will respect the hard work of all our artists and seek to keep this event a fun and friendly environment that celebrates the joy of creativity!
FAQ's:
-
Can I sell art prints that were produced by a printing house? Yes, so long as the reproductions are of original artwork made by the vendor.
-
I make 3D-printed items using patterns I got on the internet. Can I sell these? Yes, we will allow items that you print yourself from your own machine even if the patterns are not of your own making. Patterns you have not designed cannot be mass-produced by a third party. This only applies to 3D printed art, not to 2D art. Reproductions of 2D art not created by the vendor are a violation of copyright law and not appropriate at any market.
-
I designed a sculpted miniature and had copies mass-produced. Are these okay to sell? Yes, if the original design is your own you may outsource to make reproductions.
-
Can I sell needlework from a store-bought kit that I completed and framed? Yes. You put in the work to create the item, so we will allow it!
-
Can I sell craft kits that I assemble? Bringing diverse things together to make something new is what art is all about. If you have gathered purchased items together to make a kit (such as thread, needle and fabric for a cross stitch, or a plaster cast and paint) we just ask that the project be your original idea and that none of the items in the kit were already part of a purchased kit.
